ROADTRIP: YOSEMITE

[June 19-June27]

Northern Cali, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming...these are the states we have been to so far. In Northern Cali (San Francisco) we stayed with Rona and her family. Her kids are the cutest and growing up so fast. They had fun jumping on the air mattress with Joel. Then we drove 3 1/2 hours east to Yosemite National Park. What a beautiful place. Awe inspiring! We have an amazing and creative God. That night we had planned to find a place to stay outside of Yosemite because it's pricey inside the park not to mention reservations fill up far in advance. However, it was getting late, so Joel decided to ask anyway and luckily there was a tent available in Camp Curry. It is my kind of camping, bathrooms close by and places to eat. The most interesting part about our stay in Camp Curry were the bear boxes. Bear boxes are large metal lockers just outside your tent. We were advised to put any item that had a smell (food, toiletries, etc.). We were not allowed to leave it in the tent or our cars. We were half expecting to see a bear with all the precautions we took, but no bears. From Yosemite we drove to Reno, Nevada and then to Salt Lake City, Utah. In Salt Lake City we went on a sky tram ride in Snowbird (which is supposedly the top rated Ski Resort in the US). The view of the mountains was beautiful until the wind started to pick up and hail began to fall. We were the only ones in the sky tram along with the tram director. He didn't instill any confidence that we would be alright, at times he seemed just as nervous and us. We were struck by lightening several times and I held on for dear life as Joel walked around the tram and took pictures. If we were on it any longer I think I would have cried. Why is it that we always get the thrilling rides? We are in Wyoming and on our way to Colorado Springs tomorrow. Our adventures have only begun!
